Roscommon Primary Schools Basketball Blitz

On the Tuesday after St Patrick’s Day, we set off to The Hub in Castlerea for the Basketball competition we had been so looking forward to. We were in groups of 5, with teams from Tisrara NS, Tarmon NS, Croghan NS, and Tulsk NS. Our Boys team beat Tisrara, were unlucky to lose to Croghan – a score in the last seconds of the game, another narrow defeat to Tulsk, and a rather more comprehensive defeat to Tarmon, all in spite of some excellent performances. Well done boys, but mí ádh sa deireadh.

Our girls were in fine form, recording victories over all their opponents. The game against Croghan was a dinger, as they produced the winning score just at the end, an exact opposite of the boys’ game. These results mean they progress to the next round, which will be played after Easter. Maith sibh, a chailíní.

Of course, we all had to have an ice cream on the way back to school!
