Past Pupils and Sporting Success
Many of our past pupils, who represented the school so well in the years gone by, have gone on to achieve great success in sport;
Gráinne Whyte holds a Secondary school All-Ireland soccer medal, and both she and Aisling McDermott were part of the team that won the All Ireland B Camogie title this year, 2014.
Declan Leonard was a pivotal member of the Roscommon Senior hurling team who won the Nicky Rackard trophy in 2015.
Thomas Featherston and Shane Keane won All Ireland B Under 21 hurling medals with Roscommon in 2012, while Thomas is also a member of the successful current U21 county football squad, who are presently Connaught champions, and have qualified for the All Ireland final.
David Mc Dermott was a member of the U21 panel who reached the All Ireland final in 2012, and were unlucky to lose to a very good Dublin team. He donated his jersey from the day to the school, and it is displayed in a prominent place when you enter through the main door.
Gavin Keane, who was in the same class as David, has represented Ireland in cycling, and one of his International cycling jerseys is also on display in the school. Thanks for the jerseys, lads!
Caitríona Regan and Claire Curley were integral members of the Roscommon camogie team which won the Nancy Murray cup back in . Both are still valuable members of the county set up, along with Caitriona’s sister Deirdre, and Shauna Keenan.
Ciarán Casey was an important of the Roscommon and District Youth and Schoolboys’ League team which took part in the Kennedy Cup in Limerick in , surpassing all expectations by coming
This Sept, many of the members of the Oran Minor football squad who won the B Championship, were past pupils of Lisaniskey NS.
Many other past pupils have played for the county in football, hurling, Ladies’ football and camogie.
