On Tuesday October 16th, the girls from Lisaniskey NS 5th and 6th class took part in a Camogie Speed Leagues day in Lisnamult, which was jointly organised by Cumann na mBunscol Ros Comáin and Mr John Mullins, Connacht Camogie Development Officer. Over 170 girls from 14 different schools enjoyed the games, Wall Ball drills and Skill Development drills as set out by the different coaches there. These other coaches included such prominent names as; Brian Griffin, Co Camogie manager; Niall Healy – ex Galway Senior hurler; Davey Glennon – current Senior Galway hurler; and James Heffernan – Youth Development Co-Ordinator.
They were helped by 6 3rd year students from Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, who refereed the matches. These girls were all members of the Roscommon County U-14 Camogie team who recently won the Div 5 Mairead Meehan Memorial trophy.
Well done to all involved, and a very special thanks to Roscommon Gaels for the use of their excellent facilities.
Have a look at some of the photos of our day out.
